SUPPORT SERVICES: ACCOMODATION

Students can choose from a variety of options for their stay in Brisbane; such as share housing, student hostels, home stay or rental accomodation.

Home Stay / Boarding Options

Home stay is an excellent choice for students wanting to experience living in an Australian home, while at the same time improving their English. Students generally have their own furnished bedroom and share living spaces with their home stay family. Meals are included; however telephone calls and travel expenses are not. Your host family will help you learn about travelling to classes by public transport. Please contact the Director of Studies if you would like assistance with setting up a possible home stay.

Other Options

The following websites may help you with finding affordable accomodation. Note that ANIB does not necessarily endorse all of the properties listed on these sites:

ATTENDANCE POLICY

As an overseas student, it is a condition of your visa that you attend a minimum of 80% of your scheduled classes in each semester. Your attendance will be recorded at the beginning of each class, which will create a profile of your attendance across the semester. If you are absent from classes to the point that you will no longer be able to satisfy the minimum attendance requirement for the semester, the College is required to notify DIAC. This will result in your student visa being cancelled and you will be required to report to a DIAC officer, who will decide whether or not you will be allowed to remain in Australia and to continue your studies.

ACADEMIC PROGRESS POLICY

A further condition of your student visa is that you maintain satisfactory academic progress. At Australia National Institute of Business, you are considered to be making unsatisfactory progress if you fail 50% or more units in a semester, or if you fail the same unit more than once. If you do not maintain satisfactory academic progress, the College is required to notify DIAC. This will result in your visa being cancelled and you will be required to report to a DIAC officer, who will decide whether or not you will be allowed to remain in Australia and to continue your studies. If you are permitted to continue your studies, you will be required to participate in a Review of Academic Progress, which is intended to identify issues which have led to your lack of satisfactory academic progress and to propose actions to remedy them. This will be arranged with the Director of Education
